JRC has created a special website for use by its students. All staff, students and former students have access to the JRC Student Website. The website is a source of information for both staff and students and has the following features:

  • Students can access the weekly menu to see what is being served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, they have access to weekly themes for Field Day.

  • Students can view a calendar that shows them upcoming events, such as home visits, field trips and doctor’s appointments. They can also enter their own personal events on the calendar. This is very useful for transitional students who have many job interviews and deadlines to meet.

  • Each student has a personal online mailbox where he/she can receive mail from teachers and administrators and can respond to them.

  • Students can view their health goals and ask the nutritionist a question.

  • Students can submit suggestions and complaints to the school administrators. These suggestions and complaints can be submitted with their name or anonymously. All suggestions and complaints are taken very seriously and followed up on.

  • Students have access to rules for all environments and situations at JRC. These rules are updated as needed.

  • Messages from former JRC students are posted so that current students can see how former students are doing.

  • Each week, students who have met a certain criteria have their pictures posted on the home page of the website. This can happen if a student earns the most points in a week, improves the most on their academics, or behaviors.

  • A very exciting part of the student website is the discussion board. This is a forum for staff and students to share ideas and discuss them. Messages can be posted and replied to. Each post must be composed with correct spelling and grammar and this serves as a valuable added learning experience in English composition. Students are encouraged to post in several different ways. Each classroom has a specific time set aside to read and post messages. Students earn points for posting constructive messages, and each week the student who posts the best suggestion earns money in the contract store.

  • Students can create a profile, where they can list favorite movies, music artists, hobbies, and television shows. This way they can see if any staff or students share common interests.

  • New feature currently being developed:  Students can access the JRC Wellness website, which contains a wealth of valuable information concerning nutrition and wellness.
