It can be a difficult process but when you gain independence here, you are not only a step towards leaving, but you are another step towards learning what your true potential is."
"Being in the program for 5 years really changed my physically, emotionally, mentally, for this I thank you. By this I mean before I came here I was aggressive, I didn't like authority figures, I stole from my parents, I didn't pay attention in school. I have been in two other major placements and one other minor group home but I have to say my family is the best and my school board is the best. I think if it was not for me coming here I would probably have either ended up in a children's home or jail."
"My behaviors have improved some since I first came to JRC."
"I see my family more frequently."
"My case manager is teaching my Spanish."

I even highly advise that for anyone who wants to loose weight, shape up that body figure, look and feel great about themselves and even have self-love, then the vegan diet just right for them and were born to thrive on the vegan diet. And you wouldn't believe the kind of gym they have here too!!!!"

"I am extremely happy with the help I've received from the Judge Rotenberg Center. My behaviors have dramatically decreased within the last year."

"I feel that JRC has helped me so much. The GED's have changed my life. Without the wonderful help from the teachers and staff, I probably would not have been able to pass my MCAS exams. I am able to focus on my schoolwork now that I am in a classroom setting that focuses on my transitional needs. I have changed so much in the past four years. My behaviors have decreased a lot since going on the GED devices. I have better control of my anger. I know right from wrong now, when before I didn't. I dont' run away from situations now, I stay and face them. I have changed a lot. I used to focus on mainly academics, now I focus on my transitional goals like managing money, preparing for college, and working harder on my studies. Now I can see myself going to college to do something with my life, when four years ago, I didn't know if I'd make it through the night. JRC has changed my life. My family and I are very happy with my progress. I have a future now that I can focus on college. I would not have been able to get my high school diploma without all of the help that JRC staff have provided me."

"JRC is a great school it always has great services. JRC has a great training process and helps new staff if they need the help or have any questions."

"I have noticed desirable changes in my behavior and they are all due to the Judge Rotenberg Center and the use of the GED device. It has made me a better person that has an outside job at Friendly's. I wouldn't have done all of this without the GED devices and the help and reminders that I can do it and when I got upset they told me to come down it's nothing. I am able to concentrate more than before. I read, spell, solve math problems and fractional problems and I can type over 100 words in 1 minute. I really think the Judge Rotenberg Center has help me in many ways. If you look at when I come here to right to this moment you will see a huge change. I can be pleased in a classroom setting, there doesn't need to be mats on my bedroom floor. I thank JRC for all of their hard work in helping to be a better person. The GED also helped me to not to hurt myself and others around me. So I am very thankful that JRC didn't give up on me. Now I am in a house that prepares to leaving the program. I have an outside job at Friendly's in Stoughton and I love having the trust to go to work without staff following me around all day. I would like to say thank you to my case manager, my teacher, to Dr. Paisey, to Ms. Crookes, Mr. Assalone. And the most important is Heather Sutherland. She was here for me since day one she was my RSA at Lorusso and she was my case manager. She has helped me to be a better person and I learned to be more open to me. I could have a conversation with her."

"JRC has help me in many ways with my behaviors and my school work. I use to have so many behaviors. But all of that stop now because JRC has help me. I am getting much better in my school work because there is a lot of people helping me. I have noticed that my behaviors have change by the way I act. I still get mad but I don't react to problems. I have been learning more I get things quick then before. It would take me time to learn something. Now when I do my work I can do it a little bit faster."

"JRC helped me be a better person by helping me be a calmer person. When I came to JRC I had dropped out of school and was on the streets. If it wasn't for JRC I would not be getting a high school diploma. I am calmer now and more relaxed than I used to be. I am not as jumpy and hyper as I was in the past. If it wasn't for JRC I would not be graduating with a Regent's Diploma. JRC is a program which has many resources that they make available to their students. They save a lot of people from going to jail or from not getting an education."

"I feel JRC has good services for students. If JRC had not given me a chance, I would not be in a good spot like I am now. When I first came here I was swearing, yelling, screaming, verbal behaviors, now it just not me JRC has made me better but that's because I'm trying to work with them. I have noticed improvements in my math, gym, and reading. It is good. It is something I have not seen ever until I came to JRC. JRC has a lot to offer like the Baby-Think-It-Over program, the cooking department, cooking classes, independence living skill, the field trip we earn, the rewards store and contract store, the multi-day money, the food program, the opportunity to order [take-out food], having fun outside like evening activities, movie Friday, the tutors JRC provides, the GED test, JRC tutors, the student site where we can talk about our problems and other things to do, like the gym, the computer program, and more, like the behavioral academic program. JRC has is all, with the students here and the students that left we can make a change, and they will too."

  "JRC saved my life."

"JRC has helped me well with my behaviors and my work. I learned how to do math, spelling, writing, and typing."

"I have noticed desirable changes in my temper and making good choices. I am learning more and at a faster pace. JRC teaches you self-control."

"I feel that JRC has help me tremendously. I feel that the school has an awesome reward system and is very helpful. I haven't been having as many EDSOC and other major behaviors. I have been able to take the MCAS exam and attend classes. I have also finished almost all of the books in the school. My school curriculum is also almost complete. JRC has a good reward system and does not believe in the use of medication. The school also has a great academic system."

"JRC is beautifully decorated. The main building is filled with amazing works of art. The homes are very cozy. JRC always makes sure the students eat healthy. We have nice computers to work on and whenever activities are earned, it is enjoyable."

“I think it has help me out a lot since I have been in JRC and it has also help my parents when I go on my home visit and there has been lost of people that came to JRC to help me with my school work and my behaviors and the kitchen staff have been helping me with my eating habits and the gym staff been helping me get in good shape and the nursing staff have been helping me for a long time when I get hurt or sick they are there to help. When I first came to JRC I had lots of bad behaviors and I have been working hard and I have cut down on all my aggressive behaviors and my minor behaviors have went down and when I went on the GED program I only had 5 or 6 since I have been on. When I first came to JRC I had lots of school work that I need to catch up on and I had lots of help from all the staff and student all around the school I past all my math and my telling time and my reading and my maps and globes and I have past unit 1 and 2 of human body and I have been working really hard on all my other school work. They helped me with lots of my school work and my behavior habits and my workout routine. When I need to talk to someone there would be lots of staff and student to talk about my problems. There has been two staff who have helped me a lot and their names are Janna Mercier and Danielle Brewer and when I have a bad day they always come and try to help me make the rest of the week better. I have had two great case managers and their names are Kevin Giuliano and Ed Barber they have helped me with lots of my behaviors and school work and my program since I have been in JRC.”

"It had help me a lot since I've been at JRC I learned a lot of things from here. I noticed that I change one of my behavior and that's showing my aggressive behavior. I learned a lot from my grammar, spelling, math facts, practice mill, JRC tutor."

"I feel that the services are okay and kind of helped me a little bit. It has helped me succeed more and earn independence and move to the apartments. I feel like it helped me. My behavior is better now than it was before I came to this program. I noticed that I've been trying harder with my academic progress and trying to get more done during the day than I did before."

"Before I was on GED's my behavior was really bad now that I'm on devices my behavior has changed a whole lot. I think JRC is a good program and they have helped a lot of kids throughout the years."

"I think the place has style and is nicely decorated. They put a lot of effort into keeping the school well decorated and clean. Same with the house. My behaviors have almost turned 180 degrees. I was flunking out of everything because I wasn't attending school. Now I'm getting A's and B's in everything. JRC is very clean and organized place. They have good fashion. I have seen many people with severe behaviors who were very unhappy and today they are doing what's smart and right for them. I think JRC is good for certain people."

"I am glad that I came here I have changed a lot. Thank you. I do not talk out as much any more. Whenever I start doing academics I notice myself beating lessons. I think that JRC truly is the greatest. It has helped me a lot when I first came here I was bad now I only have a problem with falsifying complaints."

"Good. JRC is the best, my mom says so too. Yes, I can now control my behaviors better. Better at Practice Mill. Ms. Santos and Ms. Poisson are the best staff I have ever had. House is nice."

"I feel JRC is providing me with a good life. Yes, I have noticed I'm more relaxed in upsetting situations. The JRC program has helped me control my behaviors a great deal. Most staff are helpful and encourage me to do well."

"JRC is helping me a lot. JRC is helping me to get back home."

"I think JRC is a very good program and I also think that JRC has provided me with very good medical support and I think that JRC has helped me with controlling my anger and behaviors. I would also like to thank the JRC program for all there support. I do think that there are some very good changes in my behaviors and I also think that the staff helped me learn to control them much better then I could have done. I think that I have accomplished a whole lot in my educational area. I have learned a whole lot of things that I did not know how to do before."

"At first I did not like it because I feel that I did not belong there but I meet some friend and it's not that bad."

"They helped made me gain the confidence I need, helped so much that I can not explain."

"I think that JRC has helped me in many ways such as education, behaviors, and etc."

"Since I've been here I've been off all my meds which really made a difference. I was able to stay awake more and focus more on my academics. I've learned a lot from my teachers. JRC is a good place for students who might not be in school or skipping school. It's also a good place for students who might not be safe at home. It's a good place to learn how to manage your anger in different and healthier ways. JRC I have to admit was scary when I first came and I didn't exactly want to stay but it helped me think in healthier ways about my life and education and maybe the way I treated my parents."
"I would like to say that JRC is an excellent program."
"It's a good environment to live in. I've been getting good help. I've noticed that my behaviors have decreased. I've noticed that I made a lot of improvement here in my education. You guys made me smart."

"I feel that I have been able to learn more in my academics due to some of the tutors. I am thankful that I have a math and a Spanish tutor. My behavioral program has also helped me to control my major behaviors. I have noticed a big change in the major behavior categories i.e. aggression, health dangerous, destructive, major disruptive and non-compliant. I feel that JRC has helped me a lot in the three years that I have been here to decrease the amount of major behaviors that I was having when I first came here. I am also thankful that this place did not give up on me like many other places. This program has also helped me by taking me off of all the medication I was on when I first came here and have kept me off them and helped me learn better ways to control my behaviors without medications. JRC has also helped me to learn to be able to sit still in the classroom as well as in the house. This program has also helped me to be able to keep my room clean and well organized. I am thankful to many of the staff members in JRC. JRC has helped me to learn money management as well as a way to control my anger and frustration."

"I think JRC has helped me with my problems and has also helped me with my learning and keeping my rude comments about myself and about other people down. I do think JRC has been a big help to me and I thank them for that. I think JRC has helped me a lot with everything. Thank you for that. I could not do it without you."

"I feel that JRC has helped me a lot in the past two years. I feel that my needs are met. Now I live in a transitional apartment and I have an in-school job and I go home every weekend. I no longer argue with my mother and family members. We talk our way through our differences. We listen to each other. Most importantly I can accept when my mother tells me "no" to something without hurting myself or my mother or anyone else. I now live a non-violent lifestyle."

"I feel that they have helped me accomplish my goals that I have set for myself. They have helped me very much in many ways. Thank you. They have helped me achieve my goals that I have set for myself before I came here. I never thought that I could do that I do now. I have a job, I took CAN classes getting along better with my family. I feel better about myself."

"Over the past year JRC has provided me with an in-school job. Overall, JRC is doing a good job. I have come a long way. If it was not for JRC I would probably be in a lock-down facility."

"JRC help me cause have leaned my temper going down some and my education has improve a lot in many different ways. Also I got a job at JRC. So the only positive thing I want to say is THANK YOU."

"I think it's a great program because it helps you deal with things in the real world."

“I feel that JRC and its services have been doing its fullest to provide all my academic needs. I have taken some of my Regents exams already, and I am taking my SAT in 2 days from now, on Saturday, October 11, 2003. I am planning on going to college, and am currently in the process of applying to several colleges. I plan on taking driver’s education lessons while I’m here, as well as the written exam. JRC has provided for my other needs as well; I currently have a job in the school on Saturdays.

My mother and my relationship has improved greatly; we discuss all or any differences. And we no longer argue. I can stand now when my mother says ‘no’ and I realize how much she really loved me that she saved me from myself by bringing me here. Now I am planning on college, instead of thinking of the ‘social world.’

I think the JRC program is very well rounded, and is a lot more educationally oriented now than it was before. As well as overall its education system (now) combined with its behavioral program have made it the best residential school system by far.

The nutritional program that JRC has incorporated into the residential-educational system I feel has made it a ‘full circle’; now the program benefits not only the students behaviors (decrease) and educational (increase) but also their physical health. What better way to control you behaviors than by studying and eating right (allowing a clearer mind during class as well as keeping you awake), and receiving rewards for doing so?

I am one of the honored students that is able to say that during my time here I’ve seen productions from the Gillette Stadium Women’s Soccer World Cup game of September. I’ve been on the Boston Duck Tours as well as a minor league baseball game by the Boston Rox (I think). I also went to the IMAX Theatre of Providence Place Mall and saw the film on the Human Body. I’d have to say that my experience here at Judge Rotenberg Educational Center has been a most memorable one. And I am certain more memories are to come. I only hope that my graduation ceremony and reception will be as wonderful and touching and beautiful as Danielle’s was. And I hope that I can live up to her academic and many other achievements. She was, and is, the ‘ideal JRC student.’ I hope she is doing well in her college. And I know that I will after I graduate do well in my college. Thank you for everything, for my mother and my relationship, for my return of educational focus, and for my better adjustment to my – well…myself.”

"I like my clinician and case manager because they are nice. I like the fact we have school everyday because I have missed a lot of work in the past."

"I feel that JRC and the services it has provided is very good and it really helps us here. I noticed that I socialize a lot better with students and staff than I used to. I think this place is great for students who need help in academics and behavior problems."

"I feel that in my time at JRC my academic levels have greatly improved. My parents as well as myself are impressed with my behavioral management, and the amount of weight I've lost. My problematic behaviors have reduced dramatically. The behaviors that I exhibited before I came here are for the most part completely gone. JRC has made me look at a lot of things through a different perspective. The behavioral therapy along with the consequences and rewards has helped me to improve (and want to improve) my problematic behaviors. Although we need to think in the real world nobody is going to take us to the Contract Store if we go for a week without any major behaviors. However, there will be life-changing, long-term rewards for being able to stop and look at a situation before reacting and later realizing it was in the wrong way."

"I love JRC. I like my apartment. JRC is good. Bolivar is good too."

"I think it has been really helpful to me in the three months I've been here and I think it really works. I think I'm doing better in English. I'm getting high grades in Science and Spanish because I have a tutor now. Very effective."

"I feel JRC is helping me acquire a high school diploma and also I feel that if I wasn't in JRC I probably would be cutting school exclusively. I have stopped cursing completely. I have stopped smoking cigarettes and marijuana completely. I'm not hanging around at odd hours with guys. I have an A average instead of a C. JRC has helped me stay off the streets and away from harmful groups or harmful crowds. If I wasn't at JRC I wouldn't be in school at all. I probably would be working and living with friends. But because of JRC I am contemplating going to college."

"I like this place it's my favorite place. I am improving my diet. I think I do better here than any other school. I love doing school work, and I write definitions in my notebook. I have learned to hold my tongue when I have something to say to those I'm frustrated with. I am preparing for my high school diploma in June. I think the time I have spent at JRC has given me the opportunity to concentrate on myself and improve myself. Certain people I have come in contact with have helped me, by giving me the confidence and reassuring that I am special and my life is worth something. Here I regained some focus in my life and now I am putting more effort into my life and daily activities. When I leave JRC I will prove that I can manage and control my life where I am fully independent."

"I am more calm and relaxed. I am not doing the behaviors that brought me here at JRC."

"I have successfully completed not performing the main behaviors I came to JRC for. I completely stopped aggressive behaviors, controlled my urges to take electronics apart to irreparable condition, completely stopped trying to harm self and others, stopped swearing and yelling, never done drugs, drink alcoholic beverages, don't like to smoke, hate hurting other's feelings. I also learned to control my anger in better ways."

"I feel comfortable with the services. I'm more attentive in class. I'm more respectful to people. I'm getting better in all areas of my educational goals."

"I would like to say that there are many staff in that have helped me out very much since I came here. I feel that certain staff have made me feel like a better person about myself than I did before."

"I feel that JRC has been doing a great job when it comes to my program and how to handle my personal issues. I am more open and listen to what people have to say. JRC's educational program such as the Practice Mill is a good learning experience for students."

"Unlike most places JRC is a place where you gain more than you lose. I have noticed that I have a lot more patience which was my major problem before JRC. JRC is a place where anyone willing to work and follow the program can benefit dramatically. I myself have been at JRC for almost 2 years and when I came here I had a lot of problems, both emotionally and behaviorally but since I've come to JRC I have noticed many good changes in both."

I have had many improvements in my academics and I have more interest in them than before. I love the field trips. I have a good case manager. I love the Contract Store."

"Well, for one thing I have only been here a year and compared to when I first came in, I'm much better than I was before. I am much better because I came a long way from then and now I learned to control myself from hurting people thanks to JRC. The only positive thing I have to say about JRC is that they gave me a second chance to do things over."

"JRC is good to me. I am doing good on my behaviors. I am working very good."

"You guys help change us kids a little. You guys have good safety. You guys take time to drive us all to New York."

For awhile I was able to go a month without exhibiting any major behaviors. I am able to do things in all subjects that I did not know how to do before. Also, I'm learning a second language and JRC provides special computer programs to help with that also. I think that JRC has very respectful, caring staff. And they put a lot of time and energy into helping students in JRC improve their behaviors and for some they help prepare them for society."

"The services have helped me a lot in changing my mind into a better life. I can concentrate and do my work now. I've accomplished 3 A's and 2 B's on my report card and want to get my permit."

"It is a good program and it has a lot to offer to both residents and their parents. After they took me off my meds they really helped me adjust and get used to not being dependable.
