The JRC Respite Program provides emergency respite care for clients of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation (DMR). It is available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The program provides individuals with a safe, behaviorally-structured, temporary placement outside their home on a short-term basis, typically for up to 60 days. This program often enables the individuals to surmount current behavioral or other crises and to restore or maintain the well-being of themselves and their families.

Enrollment in this program began on June 12, 1997. Every person who has enrolled in JRC's Respite Program has responded positively to JRC's behavior modification procedures. This program uses positive-only educational and treatment procedures. Comments on this program that have been made by DMR staff, by the individuals served, or by their parents are given below. For further information about the Respite Program, please telephone Sylvie Dorval at (781) 828-2202 ext. 2335 or e-mail s.dorval@judgerc.org.
